HAPPY EARTH DAY!
In 1969 Michigan's per capita income was 10% above the national average. Since then it has been sliding downward due to the loss of the manufacturing industry to 11% below the national average.
Michigan built its economy on manufacturing which provided 50% of our jobs. Michigan is at the top of the list for lost population which adds to the foreclosure rate and also decreases the amount of federal money coming to Michigan and your community. Detroit has lost more than 1/2 its population in recent years.
Michigan needs new industry and the fastest growing industry right now is clean energy. What I don't understand is why so many in Michigan are anti-clean energy jobs. If you pay attention to the anti-clean energy commercials it states who paid for them....AMERICAN PETROLEUM INSTITUTE and politicians who speak against clean energy are likely on the dole with big oil.
There is no good reason for turning down clean energy technology and the jobs that will follow. Candidates for any political office, including those running for tribal positions, who work to convince Michiganders that clean energy will bring more jobs to our state will have my vote
Happy Earth Day!
