Acts of Desperation

With potential charges piling up around Fred Paquin and being faced with the prospect of spending years behind bars seemed to have sent him to seek refuge under the protection of a health care provider.

Apparently Paquin has been aware that an investigation was forthcoming which may have led to his desperate acts to take out his fears on others. Attempts to retaliate against the chairman and others failed to save him from himself. I suspect that what has been discovered of late is only the tip of the iceberg and Paquin's troubles with charges of * assault on a woman were small compared to what has been uncovered recently.

Some feel that Paquin is in self protect mode and will gladly point the finger to expose anyone that may have participated in the corruption of our tribe. If we could be a fly on Paquin's wall, would we hear promises, deal making, or maybe even threats? I don't think he will go down without taking others with him so the next several months could be very interesting.

Ever since Paquin was arrested for assault, reports have been coming in, not just from tribal members but also from others who are tired of being intimidated by Paquin and are now unafraid to come forward.

Since I first ran for a board seat in 2004, I received numerous (mostly anonymous) calls and emails about corruption, illegally obtained tribal property, 'employees' paid for non-existent jobs including several things that may currently be under investigation.

While a handful accuse me of being a liar, most know that I stand for honesty and justice or they would not feel comfortable coming to me. Those that make the slanderous comments are obviously trying to discredit me for obvious reasons but if you don't give up, justice will prevail.

Theft, threats, intimidation, violations of the rights of the members and the constitution, election manipulation and other injustices are the means by which members have been held hostage for too long.

I doubt very much if we will see the return of Paquin to either his board seat or his position of Chief of Police and with him out of the picture, things can only get better. Some are concerned that all of this publicity will make the tribe look bad....seems we have looked bad for too many years. Taking a chunk out of corruption will do nothing except help our image.

Remember who tried to protect Paquin.....Abramson, Causley, Eitrem, McKelvie, all currently trying to get re-elected. Hoffman, Massaway and Petoskey are others that stood behind Paquin. No one will ever convince me that Abramson and McKelvie who worked with Paquin the longest, did not know what they guy was all about while Causley and Eitrem appeared to cooperate fully with Abramson and McKelvie. But the closest of all to Paquin through the years......none other than Bernard Bouschor.
