When All Else Fails....Fake It

Game on....for the candidates for open seats on the Board of Directors and the Chairman's position. When it's all about winning 70 grand plus a seemingly unlimited supply of free dinners for friends and family and nights spent in expensive hotels, not to mention the power and control gained over more than 34,000 members of the Sault Tribe, some will do anything to get there.

When I inquired who may be running for chairman, the responses and logic behind the deductions were quite telling about the mindset of those already seated.

It was suggested that DJ Hoffman has lost an enormous amount of weight so that he would be more appealing and therefore, a better candidate for chairman. Maybe he did it for his health or maybe he wanted to fit better on a billboard and try to woo and appeal to anyone that could be suckered in with superficial ploys. It didn't work for John Edwards with his expensive 'do' or tailored suits because he lacked the substance to carry it off. If you can't win it on your abilities, you better try another tactic....like appearance.

Dennis McKelvie was sporting a polo style shirt recently instead of the usual Michigan Tshirt that he has been wearing for how many years?! Did he finally take the insults from the members seriously about his lack of professional attire or is this just a weak display of trying to appear professional? Did he finally get it through his head that 70 grand a year plus too many benefits warrants a certain degree of professionalism? Maybe he will even take that huge step and get himself some dentures. Did anyone check his shoes? Did he invest in dress shoes or was he still wearing the same old dirty athletic shoes? Get with it Denny...it's all about appearances, not substance. Don't let DJ beat you out because he looks better.

Speaking of fakes, someone by the name of Diesel Mechanic (what were your parents thinking)
left a glowing message regarding Fred Paquin on this blog. 'Dies' praised the accomplishments
of Paquin the accused Woman Beater/Sexual Harrasser/ Gaming Violater/Knock Himself in the Head and Fake Unconsciensiousness to Create an Alibi (a few years ago....funny story).

Dies also wanted to note that Aaron Payment's hair was an embarrassment to the tribe....huh?
Thanks to double dipping, Fred Paquin was able to afford a pretty nice rug to wear so maybe he can convince Payment to donate some of his nice locks to men like Fred who, otherwise, could not afford such a luxury.

Again, it's that superficial, lacking substance, it's all about appearances thing that will get someone elected. Who cares what they accomplish, as long as they look good and/or say the right things at the right time.

When I decided not to publish 'Dies' Pro Paquin comments, 'Dies' was overwhelmed with grief
letting me know in no uncertain terms what a F*****g B***h I am. Geez Freddie, nice friends you have, but then similar minds seem to find one another. By the way 'Dies'...is that your real name or are you just faking it?

Paquin's Having a Pity Party.....All Invited

Ever since the suspended Police Chief Paquin's arrest for the alleged beating of a woman half his size after she refused his sexual advances, he has used his free space in the Sault Tribe newspaper to hold a pity party for himself instead of supplying members with his accomplishments for the month.

Fred's 'accomplishments', as it turns out, are not what he was elected to do. If ever there was a reason for no double dipping, Fred Paquin is it. As Chief of Police and a Director on the Board of the Sault Tribe, he has wielded his power like a sledge hammer to get what he wants from whoever he wants it from.

Paquin has taken the lead in the contest for who can embarrass this tribe the most. Police Chief aka Director aka Woman Beater aka Sexual Assaulter aka Gaming Violator aka Biggest Failure in upholding his duties both as police chief who took an oath to uphold the law and as Director who failed to look out for the tribes best interests.

Paquin's day in court has been moved to the middle of April due to the prosecutor taking a position elsewhere. The new prosecutor now must have time to review the details of the case and go over any new information that may come in.

Many are probably disappointed that they have to wait even longer to hear the outcome but the good news is....Paquin gets to panic for the next two months wondering how much more will be revealed about his character before the case finally gets to court. The other good news is that we seem to have acquired an excellent replacement for Paquin. Officer Marchand was raised by good people....that I know. He is just what this tribe needs to erase the memory of Paquin the Predator.

No matter what happens, Paquin needs to be fired as police chief for being a dirt bag. His chances for reelection will depend on how much of his sphere of influence remains. His final blow to his ego will be to have 20 votes or less to his credit.

Paquin's Pity Party may turn into a major celebration for the rest of the Sault tribe as well as for those in the St. Ignace area who will be glad when he no longer has the power to intimidate the residents.

Bye Fred....it's been a real blast.

Tornado Winds over Petosky

Comments in an email made by myself regarding recent unprofessional behavior by Shirley Petosky at a tribal meeting in Kincheloe was met with a challenge from Petosky to prove my statement. I love it when challenges are so dirt easy that it is almost a shame to take the person seriously.

Four individuals, over the course of a week, told me of Petosky's threat to "show her ass to members" for their criticism of the lack of ethics displayed by several members of the board over recent months. Add to that Petosky's statement in the Evening News that the At-large members are responsible for taking away her rights....huh?...prompted me to comment, via email, of Petosky's lewd acts at a public board meeting which embarrassed the entire tribe.

Petosky let me know she was not very happy with my comments either. Shirley believes it was completely appropriate to stand and turn her hind end to the person speaking at the podium and say "I'll show my ass"....the rest being unintelligible because it was no longer her mouth that was occupying the microphone. She referred to my comments as being 3rd and 4th hand so a kindly person sent me an actual clip in which Petosky, after a screaming fit, threatens to 'show her ass' and proceeds to turn her back towards the audience. Thankfully the camera turned back towards the tribal member that was speaking before 'the view' of Shirley Petosky's rear end could be a horrible memory for anyone that would view the meeting on public television.

Petosky wanted proof of my statement or a retraction to all those who received my email message. I offered to attach the video clip and send to all those who would have received my email and let them decide but I haven't heard from her since. It's bad enough that the members in attendance as well as anyone who may have watched and listened to her lewd backroad behavior on TV were subjected to Petosky's unprofessionalism.

What is really sad about this is that the members elected her to represent them and they got a whiner and a crybaby who thinks it is all about her. When I replied to her ranting with my own complaints of how the board has been operating, not once did she respond to my concerns but only to my criticism of her unprofessional and embarrassing behavior.

Hmmm...brings back memories of numerous threats from DJ Hoffman to use tribal funds to hire an investigator to go after and persecute (yes, I meant persecute) members who use alias's to speak their minds. Oh yes, let's not forget those threats of his to go to employers, file complaints with unrelated licensing agencies and to sue members for criticizing his behavior. Shirley.... there are people out there with manners that would make better mentors.

To those in her unit that voted for her...you could have had Karl Weber, an attorney with an impeccable reputation and look what you chose instead. I hope what she is doing for her constituents outweighs the embarrassment she is causing this tribe.

Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow

An Anonymous Writer asked that I post this......

On February 14th, Fred Paquin, suspended police chief / suspended CEO of Greektown / unit 1 director, will make his appearance in court to face assault charges for allegedly beating a tribal woman and employee for refusing his sexual advances.

Fred Paquin has a history of allegedly assaulting women, but, has remained on the board of directors and is still being paid as tribal chief of police.Controversy started to swell over the reaction of some board members when they learned of the charges. Some were quoted to suggest that "She deserved it" Paquin, himself, later suggested that she would have been better off if she had just kept her mouth shut.

He used his Board Note column to admit that it was an error in judgment but that he was the real victim. He wasn't able to accept responsibility for his brutal behavior, that evening. Instead, he turned the tables, in his column and described what he believed to be the truth about his relationship with the victim. He seemed to suggest that people won't remember his transgressions but, she will now be forever remembered for her adulteress behavior. If that isn't SPIN.....I don't know what is.Fred Paquin is unwilling to take responsibility for his behavior but, maybe this judge will insist on it.

It is possible that Fred Paquin will loose his chief of police position along with his board seat if found guilty. That is most likely what is behind this recent motion to saddle the chairman with an 81,000 dollar charge for changing the employee picnic back to the traditional weekday instead of the prohibitive weekend. Paquin believes that this would have all been swept under the rug if Payment wasn't such an employee advocate.

Is It a Breeze? Is It a Tornado? No,it's Wind Weaver

Wow! A few words spoken to the Sault Tribe Board Secretary, Joanne "Tom" Carr (and a Bouschorite), requesting my Notice of Election packet launched her into a tirade of questions and responses regarding my residency. Did other members of the tribe need to relay a timetable of their whereabouts in order to receive the election informational packet? Isn't everyone that is a tribal member entitled to receive this?

A simple request resulted in, what seems to me, to be a breach of confidentiality. Is it Carr's business as the board secretary and a member of the election committee to demand from members proof of their whereabouts and to insult members on the internet for requesting the information we are all entitled to receive?

A curious example of double standards is the fact that the members said NO to Bouschor's eligibility to run in any election until after his fate is decided in court but yet, he has picked up his election packet and plans on running for the board. If the election committee places Bouschor's name on the ballot then Santa Claus can run if he wants since the rules and the will of the membership no longer applies.

On the other hand, it is comforting to know that I can create such fear among the Bouschorites that they would start the attacks and plan their next strategy before the' election war' is even started. Considering all that Bouschor stands for, I consider this a compliment to my integrity and honesty.

Comments on my blog indicating certain actions I would take on the board, if I ran and were elected, also seem to be causing extreme fear for the Bouschorites. Dangerous suggestions that I would take 1/2 the current salary and no other benefits is a threat to those that are in it for the money.

In any event, be assured that any attack on me is coming from the Bouschorists because they fear the "Wind Weaver".

And The Good News Is....

With all the Doom and Gloom we are being subjected to by the majority of the Sault Tribe Board of Directors, the good news is that there is an election on the horizon. Even more good news is that the members are ready and anticipating change for the better.

The current directors up for re-election are all wearing a label stating exactly where they stand in regards to the Mackinac Bands and the At-Large members so no need to guess who to vote for
on that issue. Those same directors also seem to be in agreement with their position on forgiving Paquin for all his indiscretions such as alleged woman beating, sexual harassment and gaming violations and that is before the courts have had a chance to decide.

To make the decision on who to vote for even easier, those same directors don't want the new constitution but they do want Bernard Bouschor to be able to run again.....well at least 4 of them want BB back.

I have been asked to run and I think I might. The difference between me and those other guys is this:
1. I am a Sault Tribe member and a Mackinac Bands member so I know how it feels to be on both sides. I do not want the Mackinac Bands disenrolled and I don't want to see members wondering when they will be kicked out of tribal housing as well as having to worry how the will pay for health and dental care or the medications some need to survive.
2. I have lived for a few months with other At-large members and know how they feel about being treated as second class tribal citizens.
3. I see so many opportunities for business being lost to political grandstanding and opposition because the current board can't be bothered with such nickel and dime business opportunities. It is right there in front of their faces but still, politics is taking a front seat over everything else that matters.
4. I'll take half the paycheck the current board is getting paid and have the rest placed in a trust fund to assist other tribal members or returned to the Elders fund. Take all the savings from the extra "benies" and give it back to the Elder fund or to someone else that needs it.
5. I will invite the tribal members to evaluate my performance publicly and heed their advice.

No big promises....I will do what I can to try to correct as many wrongs as I can in the time I am given to do it. I can only hope that we will have some good board members to work with to achieve this.

Cause of Death...Disenrollment

As a divorced single parent, the greatest benefit to me as member of the Sault Tribe was the free health and dental care for myself and my children and fortunately, we were a healthy family. I never relied on or asked for any other services from the Sault tribe other than the health and dental care.

But what about those Elders who are diabetic, have heart problems or other age related illnesses? What about those children whose parents must rely on IHS for asthma medications so their children can breathe? There are an untold number of Sault Tribe members who have serious health problems and have no other options for their health care and most ask for nothing more than that.

But...there are a handful of directors that want to take that away. Not for one moment have they considered what they are doing to thousands of members. While they do little for the 70 grand a year plus benefits they receive, there are members who would give anything just to get a job making 1/4 of that.

Dennis McKelvie seems to be leading the charge to disenroll thousands of members of the tribe and he is followed closely by Cathy Abramson, DJ Hoffman, Joe Eitrem, Lana Causley, Keith Massaway and Fred Paquin. Now the last 3 must have some significant plan in place since they are Mackinac Bands themselves but that remains to be seen

Now those same useless people not worthy of the title or position want even more at the expense of the health of Elders, children and other members who desperately need the health benefits of the tribe. During these times of extreme unemployment in Michigan, our country falling into a recession, those greedy directors want to take more away from the members in order to benefit themselves and their own families.

I am a descendant of both Sault Tribe and Mackinac Bands so either way, it should not matter to me....but it does. It infuriates me that these evil people feel they somehow have the right to do this to so many good people. Because our people had to move away to find jobs rather then live on welfare, the greedy useless bunch sitting on the board have decided that these members are no longer Indian or part of this tribe.

I am a member of this tribe and those directors are there because of the vote (however questionable that is). The board is there to represent the members and they have failed us miserably. As a member of this tribe, I want the Mackinac Bands as well as all At Large members to remain within our tribe until such time as they choose to leave on their own.

The Mackinac Bands, with their approximate 17,000 members, are making progress. When the BIA accepted the resolution to allow the adoption of the Mackinac Bands into the Sault Tribe, they, for all intents and purposes, recognized the Mackinac Bands as being an Indian tribe. That is only logical...correct? They certainly didn't let them in thinking they were not Indian...correct? The Mackinac Bands is already recognized by the State of Michigan.

For those that are concerned about your future, Mackinac Bands is holding open enrollment and it is not necessary to drop out of the Sault Tribe at this time. For those that are not Mackinac Bands, contact the Bay Mills tribe since Sault Tribe is just a splinter tribe of Bay Mills.
