AN ARGUMENT FOR LEADERSHIP

It appears that the membership has no protections regarding the "ENERGY" investment with the present rules on referendum. These rules do not protect the members from misguided or deliberate business dealings. Instead, they allow for unscrupulous and reckless behaviors which have plagued the tribe for decades. By rule, the process can continue, making the referendum or challenge a mute point. The citizens are at the mercy, or should I say the wisdom, of the elected Board and their Chairman. A new constitution might have prevented this.

Is this the time to be spending over a million dollars beyond the needs of the membership services that have been compromised by earlier misjudgments? Is this the actions of a Board that is sensitive to the already distrustful membership? Is this the leadership they are offering?

Perhaps Mr. Cadreau and Mr. Boulley should have presented their offer to the membership in a more respectful manner instead of leaving them out of the equation. Scheduling the informational meeting, after the fact, was meaningless and hurtful. This is all typical of the Bouschor way of doing business.

Citizen resistance will be felt in the next election. They are looking for leadership.

Former boardmember Dennis Mckelvie did the right thing. He called for the referendum within the allotted time. Chairman McCoy did not;his action of going ahead with the payments have put the members between a wall anda hard place. If the referendum passes they will lose their $1,000,000.00 investment in Indian Energy. The chairmen may be within the letter of the law but he certainly isn't within the spirit of it. He has made a dirty business of it.
Thank you, Charles Forgrave

Until the next election, we will see a small majority of the Board take advantage of the weaknesses in the tribe's constitution.
The rules of referendum seem to be the only tool that the membership can use to stop corrupt or misguided actions taken by the Board.
Even though it won't immediately stop an action , it will serve as a message to the Board that the membership strongly disapproves.
Usually, if the members have to resort to referendum it is because the Board failed to demonstrate the value of their actions or the membership feels that the action is not in the best interest of the tribe.
It is the arrogance of those elected to not include the will of the membership in their decision process.
Especially during these financially troubled times when sacrifice is the norm.

Per the letter below from Ms. Mc....it appears that Boulley and Cadreau took for their own use $50 GRAND of the money given them by the Sault Tribe to compensate for Sault Tribe expenses. What on earth could these expenses be ? This is just BS. I am glad the members got all over this. Sounds like another scam.

Have you ever herd of saving your money? Why does your tribe need to spend even penny it gets?

As for Solar energy everyone knows you could put solar panels over all the states west of the Mississippi River and still not make a dent in our nations energy needs.

Lets see how much you make over the next 5 years.

None of current board have integrity. Not one. So please do not start with the oh DJ Malloy is new and needs time rhetoric. The referendum ballots are worded in such a manner as to encourage a yes vote on them. Now any ethical board member would have demanded that impartial information on the resolutions and objections to them be included. More trying to trick the voters. More arrogance on all of their parts.

After I received my ballots for the vote on our two problems with the Board and bad money deals. I have only this to say, for 2,500,000 we get 15% of the company, but if we own a company we are willing to give away 24% of that company for no up front money. Why does that sound wrong ? Why would our Board even think that we are getting a deal...Baamaapii Negee

Our right to make changes through referendum is the one voice we have left....use it.
