Sault Tribe Chairman Resigns
Written by Communications Department
Tuesday, 10 May 2011
Sault Ste. Marie, MI - Sault Tribe Chairman Darwin "Joe" McCoy on Tuesday night announced his immediate resignation as the elected leader of the 39,000-member Tribe.
His brief resignation letter to the Sault Tribe Board of Directors provided no specific reasons for his decision to resign other than "circumstances beyond my control."
McCoy had served for nearly three years as Chairman after being elected by members of the Tribe.
Under the Tribe's Constitution:
1. Board Vice Chairperson Lana Causley will serve as interim Chairperson until a successor is appointed or elected.
2. The Sault Tribe Board will decide as soon as possible whether to either appoint a successor, as specified in the Tribal constitution, or call an advisory special election to fill the seat under Tribal law.
All Board members pledged a smooth transition to the new chairperson.

And you were wondering just how Benard Bouschor was going to make it full circle
Fasten your seatbelts...It's going to be a bumpy ride!!!! If this a plan concieved by Bouschor then that fundamental change might be needed sooner rather that later.
Watch for Causley to position herself for the Chairmanship! The members should settle for nothing short of a special election!
Here is a coincidence
Once ousted, James Billie returns to lead Seminole Tribe Eight years after he was impeached as chairman of the Seminole Tribe of Florida amid financial scandal
Will someone else on the BOD resign soon as well? They should. McCoy isn't the only one keeping secrets...... McCoy do the right thing and expose your associates on the BOD's.........
Perhaps one of the very worst things Aaron Payment could have done is to announce his intent to run. Now the BOD will do everything they can to not hold an election or to sway the outcome, given they have such advance notice. But that has always been a major weakness of Aaron, he could never just keep his mouth shut and bide his time.
Turn the Tables on the corrupt
The Bouschor Board will not likely allow an election to fill the Chairman position left vacant by the second worst chairman this tribe has ever seen.
Instead, they will appoint.........
They are afraid of former chairman Aaron Payment 's resolve to rid the tribe of corrupt politicians.
He will attack the very machinery that has allowed the corrupt to thrive.
This time, he will aggressively shake the arrogance out of the entrenched board members and demonstrate the meaning of humble.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Sault Tribe members to correct the problems in government.
They must support former Chairman Payment. Demand an election.
What this administration failed to secure for the membership
New Constitution Ready for Board of Directors Review and Approval
Friday, 04 May 2007
The Constitutional Convention Committee has finalized a revised Constitution which is now ready to complete its final phase which is presenting the final document to the Board of Directors in a board workshop. The following document was produced with input from tribe members in various communities across the State and Country. The committee has addressed many issues and concerns while also taking numerous recommendations and has created this document based upon tribe member input. The Board of Directors will have an opportunity to review the document, address thier concerns, and offer recommendations prior to its submission to the Secretary of the Interior and Bureau of Indian Affairs at which time; a Secretarial Election will be conducted to gain an ultimate vote of the membership to adopt the new Constitution.
I don't think it really matters that Aaron said anything or not. The board would have anticipated his involvement. They no doubt have been planning this move to get bouschor back at the top. In fact this is most likely bouschor's own plan. Aaron needs to be backed by members insisting that we have an election rather than "they" appointing bouschor.
Aaron Payment has always been for the people, not as some of the current BOD are, lining their own pockets. We need a "Special Election" for the people to decide that it is now time for a change that will help all membership. The BOD now have an opportunity to help the people by getting rid of the one's that have been the cause of our going down the pit.
Aaron has nothing to hide, so why not announce it? He isn't like the others to always keep everything so hush hush, sneaky, and quiet. Lots of memebers through the years have done nothing but witch about the fact that everything is done behind our backs, and you finally have a person, that held loads and loads of unit meetings and personal meetings, etc...so that the membership could be involved, and now you want him to keep his mouth shut....dont think so...we are our government, and at least with Aaron, we could speak our minds and we were listened to...Go get them Aaron, we can't afford for Lana or Bernard to take control....we would be in alot of trouble..... Also, I am not afraid to put my name on what I believe in, or who I believe in...
I'f the tribe was more then a bunch of indians wanting benifits, and not thinking what it dose to the tribes economics. The chairman wouldn't of resighned. If no ones going to listen to what you have to say. You can't help someone that dosent want it. If I was him I would of quit a long time ago. All you people do is criticize the leader of your tribe I'n stead of have respect for some one taking such a hard job where you'd never make everyone happy. Its not the chairman that needs change it's the people of the tribe. That need to wake up n see what's going on around them. Not just think about what helps you today. Think about what's best for the tribe I'n the long run.
Sure the natives want benefits, but so far the most of the greedy board members are receiving far more than the tribe and flushing any future we have down the toilet. There is a reason Joe bailed and those of you who are naive will soon see the real reason as the game of chess plays out.
It was affair #3, first Lona S and then Lana and now his new secretary. We all knew it was going on and seen it everyday or whenever he was there. His wife found out and told him if he wasnt done then she was. he would be right back where he started as an employee of the marina instead of claiming ownership.Except she would probably fire his ass.He only got that marina cause he screwed his boss's wife and then caused them to break up so he could get his hands in the business. thats how he got where he is today.
Maybe he just had enough of working with the crazy board ! Who wouldn't? Did anyone read pinhead Pines unit report. Steps to better business or some wacky title like that ? Bull crap. Her entire resolution would put everything in the hands of a bunch of no nothing knuckle headed board members who cannot tell their noses from a hole in the ground. Yikes ! I would resign too if I had to work with them. The Board is adamant about wanting to maintain full micromanagement and want to relegate the chair position to one of board lackey.
Pine's report was very scary. Scary because she actually thinks she has the ability to make management decisions. Bernard is going to push full steam ahead now to gain a strong foothold and his groupies pine and abramson will be right by his side. How pathetic. Aaron would be a fool to go back into that cesspool.
THere will be no election, there is not time
CALL FOR ELECTION.
CAUSLEY HAS NOT THE ABILITY TO RUN ANYTHING.
BOUSCHOR IS JUST A TROUBLE MAKER AND SHOULD OFF THE BOARD WITH CAUSLEY.
THEY ARE BOTH GULITY OF WHAT THEY DID TO OUR TRIBE.
THERE IS MEMBER THAT YOU CAN NOT TRUST.
