NO SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE SAULT TRIBE

Voting NO to a special election were the following:

1. Deb Pine,
2. Cathy Hollowell,
3. Bernard Bouschor,
4. Pat Rickley,
5. Keith Massaway,
6. Joe Eitrem, and
7. Lana Causley.

Although several suggested that some had their own special agendas for wanting a special election, others said this wasn't about any individuals hoping for a place as tribal chairperson. One of the few directors not to voice an opinion was Bernard Bouschor but he had his nephew, Bill Bouschor, speak for him to oppose a Special Election.

Cathy Abramson had several comments to make in support of the membership chosing the next chairperson and DJ Malloy had several questions for the legal department as well as pointing out that a simple amendment (an action that takes place frequently) to the code would allow for a Special Election while some opposed making an amendment to serve a specific purpose.

Hollowell performed her usual double-speak that we have come to know her so well for. She disputed a comment with words that said exactly the same thing as the person who spoke them in the first place, as several around me also noted.

As one tribal member responded to the board, "Rumor has it that you guys already decided that Joe Eitrem will be appointed to Chairman (which would explain why he so vehemently opposed a Special Election) and that DJ Hoffman would be appointed to the board to fill Eitrem's vacant seat." Audience members were equally divided as to whether they opposed or would approve a Special Election.

However, one thing was made very clear:
Regardless of the direction of the election, the acceptance of the results and the appointment would be at the pleasure of the board. In other words, just as you voted in previous elections, it doesn't mean a thing if the same 7 people on the board vote to disapprove your vote. I guess that explains why those same 7 continue to dispute the cost of an election....because they aren't going to listen to you anyway.

Someone should tell Hollowhead to insert her brain before she leaves the house.

Well isn't this a huge suprise...NOT!!! Guess we will just keep on taking it huh folks. Now do you get that what you want dosen't mean squat to this board.? I keep listening for a hint of fundamental change but that just isn't going to happen. So let's keep up with all this useful posting. It does so much good. They are reading this stuff and then sitting back laughing at what a bunch of suckers we really are. We will fall for anything. We will accept anything, therefore they will DO anything they want. Up to and including stepping all over us as tribal members. Reminds me of the time I said to Bernard's secretary(I was naive then)"well what about the rest of us?".Her reply...I guess the rest of us is out of luck. I guess that pretty much sums it up.

Why would we vote for Aaron anyway when he didn't follow through on the petition to remove Boushor.

Aaron never intended to follow through on a recall petition on Bernard. He used everyone who signed it in his never ending game of war against Bernard. So many times over the years Aaron had info on Bernard or other corrupt board members and he just kept silent so he could play politics with them. Aaron wont even go to a meeting and he wants to run again ? Get real. He never even shows his face anywhere near the tribe. Even Bernard used to go to meetings as he was ousted. He went to functions and talked with people and guess what, he was re-elected. Bernard is a scum bag but he knows how to play the game.

What most people do not realize is that the legal department will give an opinion to satisfy whatever the board wants to do. It is all worked out beforehand. The legal opinons are then used as the justification for board action so individual board members can absolve themselves of any responsiblity for making an unpopular decision. All they have to say is they are following the advice of the legal department. A tactic Bernard devised years ago.

Lynne Weaver said...

That is exactly what I thought regarding the legal opinion. The history of our legal dept is that it is powered by the board. We have seen what happens when someone from the legal dept goes against the wishes of the board. With no separation of powers, this is what you get. A referendum for a separation of powers and elected judges with a legal background should be the next move for Sault Tribe members.

Bernard's favorite words when he was chair was to tell his sleazoid lawyers to 'make it legal'.
Aaron if you read this please pay attention. If you want back in Tribal politics you need to get our from behind your computer and step up to the plate. Stop making idle threats and follow through. Turn in that petition on Bernard. Do not give us some lame excuse that you want to make sure it will fly with the tribal board. If it does not then turn in another, and another and another. You always stop short of action. Tribal employees do not need another inhouse tribal plan to protect their rights. Anything the board enacts they can take away and you know it. They need a union and you need to stop with your own control issues and be a real advocate for them. Go to the tribal board meetings and stand up for public comment and address real issues, not just the gossip of who is sleeping with who. Advocate for the people. Take a stand, in public, and address the board in person. We do not want or need to hear the dirty secrets of board members , we want and need someone who will expose the corruption, take action for the truth and not be swayed by political games. In the end you have too many control issues and too many games. Either step up or step away.

If you are going to post information here at least get it correct and the facts. Lana Causley did not vote on this issue. Just another example of your yellow "journalism", and I use that term loosely.

Lynne Weaver said...

Lana may not have actually "voted" against the Special Election, but she made her opinion very clear by speaking extensively against holding a Special Election so therefore, if she had voted, there is no question in my mind or anyone else's mind that it would have been a NO vote.

Uh, sounds like pinhead pine is upset. Anyway, would someone please do Aaron a favor and tell him not to bother with yet another recall petition until he at least follows through on the one on Bernard. People are not even going to take him seriously anymore.

And now the nasty filthy anonymous comments begin because I post actual events and real names. If you don't like announcements about the actions of some on the board than I suggest you either change your ways if you are a board member or vote for someone who won't embarrass this tribe. The best part is that I don't have to allow the dirt on my blog.

???? I did not see any abusive posts. But perhaps Pine is on the net, getting her revenge.

Lynne Weaver said...

I didn't publish the abusive comments. They serve no purpose other than to insult anyone who disagrees with the Bad 7.

We who want to remove BB from the BOD need to organize. We can start by listing his self-centered actions. Here is some to start:

1. He got a circut court judge to bar members from a jury that was selected to determine whether or not he broke the law when he paidoff six of his staff--$2.6 million.

2. He has his whole family working at the tribe. Three of them were just hired, no posting, no job desription.

See. Now you build the list, factual now.

The list will bring the fire to take him out of this elecyion

And we should share costs to mount letter and advertizing campain,

No one is going to go after Bernard or really challenge the Board on anything. No one shows up to complain at meetings. Talk is cheap.

They need DJ Hoffman back on the Board. DJ worked hard on the Board.

This site is dead

OUTSTANDING! Put DJ Hoffman back on the board so he can lay all the groundwork to rip us off with Jerry Campbell down in Romulus like Uncle Bernie did in Greektown with the Greeks. OUTSTANDING!

Anonymous said...

There is no way to say this nicely. In my opinion DJ is a moron. I believe he lacks the maturity and the intelligence to be an effective Board member. He is part of that core family that profited from the insider bennies for years. Wasn't it his sister, and Cathy A.'s neice who got big bucks from tribal ops to attend a beauty school ? Wasn't DJ a staunch supporter of Fred ? Didn't DJ refer to one of Fred's assault victims as a slut ? Come on people we do not need to continue to scrap the bottom of the integrity barrel to find decent Board members.

The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians has named a new general counsel with a strong background in American Indian law and political clout.
John Wernet, former deputy legal counsel to former Gov. Jennifer M. Granholm, will assume his new duties with the Sault Tribe on Monday, June 13, a tribal news release stated Thursday.

Why does the tribe need yet another lawyer ? Don't they already have a legal department full of lawyers ? How much will this new big name be paid ? Come on now the tribe has had lawyers up the yazoo and we are still broke.

Just looking over the agenda for this weeks meeting. Why are there so many budget modifications for the Health Division? Who do they report to anyway? How come they get all the raises first? Is this someone's pet project or someone's pet division? These people are the first that the Board brought up to pay scale, and now they are giving them more money? We need to look at the Board and see who would benefit from this division receiving more raises. Is anyone paying attention to any of this? And why is Denise Chase putting the same resolution on the agenda that was voted down at the last meeting? It all looks a little fishy. Are there "rogue board members" on the loose again trying to fix things up for their families and friends in politics?

The fact that this tribe is so frightened that they won't even identify themselves when commenting tells me that the members themselves may be in-fact part of the problems.

My real life nick name is Longshot. The MIHBPA gets sent emails identifying my birth name. They all know who I am. Believe me. LOL

Why all the Anonymous's here?

If you can't speak your mind here without fear, how will you do it in person?

I know some will say why does an outsider speak on this. It's just an observation I've noticed for some time.

I Blog under Longshot, but every single horsemen knows who I am.

Never fear speaking the truth.

Our right to make changes through referendum is the one voice we have left....use it.
