An open letter to Sault Tribe Members and Team Members:
Financing Being Finalized to Complete Casino and Protect its Value
Greektown Casino has voluntarily asked a federal court for approval to reorganize its finances and continue normal business operations under the protection of Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
In addition, Greektown is finalizing $150 million in financing necessary to complete construction of the new 400-room hotel and gaming floor expansion. Many Companies Follow Chapter 11 to Improved Financial Health.
After exploring other alternatives, Greektown Casino managers, financial consultants, and the Greektown Casino Management Board concluded that Chapter 11 reorganization -- which has been pursued by many companies across the country -- is the best option for the casino.
Chapter 11 allows the casino to continue to operate normally for all guests, player’s club members, employees, vendors, suppliers and contractors.
It’s important to note that Chapter 11 reorganization is not the same as Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Under Chapter 11, otherwise financially healthy companies implement plans to reorganize their finances and debt. Under Chapter 7, companies close and liquidate their assets. Greektown Casino is nowhere close to Chapter 7. Many well-known companies have followed the Chapter 11 path including Delta Airlines, Macy’s, Dow Corning, Federal Mogul, casino operator Tropicana Entertainment, Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts, and many more.
The Tribe would have preferred to avoid Chapter 11 reorganization, however it became impossible to avoid. As you may know, Greektown Casino is held to different standards than are the other two Detroit casinos. Even though Greektown Casino is profitable, regulators have placed financial performance requirements on Greektown Casino the other two properties do not have to meet. In addition, permanent casino construction began about six months late because of delays during negotiations to buy the land on which Greektown’s parking garage was built.
Reorganization Protects Member Programs and Services.
Reorganization will protect Tribal member programs and services while permanent casino construction is being completed. No more funds for Tribal member programs and services will be used to pay Greektown Casino’s bills.
In addition, it is no longer necessary to sell a portion of Greektown Casino at a reduced value. Obviously once the permanent casino and hotel are complete, the value of Greektown Casino will increase dramatically.
Banks Express Confidence in Greektown’s Future
Greektown Casino’s banks are the best judge of the casino’s financial health. Greektown is working with them to finalize the financing needed to complete construction of the permanent casino and emerge from Chapter 11 reorganization a more vibrant enterprise.
In November, Greektown Casino opened its new attached parking structure, marking the completion of Phase 1 construction work on the new permanent Greektown Casino and hotel. Phase 2 - construction of the casino’s new 400-room hotel and expanded gaming floor - is scheduled to be completed in phases in the coming months . The permanent casino and hotel will include a multi-purpose theater, buffet, three restaurants, and 25,000 square feet of additional gaming space.
Total investment in the permanent Greektown Casino project will be about $500 million. Greektown Casino has been the topic of discussion among Tribal members for years. The coming weeks and months will undoubtedly lead to more questions as we move through the reorganization process. The Sault Tribe Board and Chairperson Payment pledge to do our best to keep you informed of important developments.
Again, the goal of the Chapter 11 reorganization is to produce a stronger Greektown Casino that will be a greater financial asset for future Tribal generations. Reorganization protects Tribal member programs and services, allows Greektown Casino to open the permanent casino and hotel, and will significantly increase the value of the property.
Sincerely, Aaron PaymentChairperson

Phone Bank Yields Surprising Information
Tonight's phone bank found us listening to members fears about their families being disenrolled by the McCoy/Bouschor team. It seems that members within the service areas have received the message below which would lead anyone to believe that McCoy wants to disenroll At-Large members.
This is what one member had to say.........
"Also the most recent auto call in our area is this. Starts with-- 'Would you like to know where all the money went? If the Payment regime continues to help people outside the service area than there will be nothing left. This must stop now!'... and that is the jist of it. I am sure you will not get this phone call but I thought it would be good to let people know what direction team Mccoy is going to take us and who will suffer the most."
If you have family members who live outside the service area who were hoping that benefits may be extended someday, as Payment would like to see....forget it if McCoy becomes chairman. He is supported by Bouschor, Abramson, Hoffman, Eitrem, Causley and McKelvie. If this team has it's way, all At-Large and Mackinac Band members will be tossed out.
Again, many more members did not receive ballots that should have. A request to the election committee chairman, Mike McKerchie, asking for the total number of ballots mailed was denied.
That's right...McKerchie doesn't want us to know how many ballots were mailed....why? Cover up maybe? I see no other reason why McKerchie would withhold that information unless he needs to check with Bouschor and McCoy first.

To Be Assimilated or Not To Be
As a member of an Indian tribe, we often hear words such as sovereignty, culture, and assimilation as opposed to also being a citizen of the United States. Some believe we should make a choice to be either a member of a tribe or a U.S. citizen. They are entitled to their opinon, as we all are.
What does it mean not to assimilate? Allard Teeple says if we vote in the United States election that we have become assimilated and do not deserve the right to be a Sault Tribe member. He is not alone in his beliefs because he is not the first person I have heard that from.
But there also seem to be varying degrees of assimilation. Another member feels that technology has destroyed our culture while typing those words on a computer. Others have criticized members for not being traditional.
What does that mean? When I have asked that question, I have heard answers that are questions instead, such as "do you smudge, have you ever been in a sweat lodge, do you speak the language, etc...?" At times, those questions have been more of an accusation. To assume whether one does or does not is a mere guess but we all make assumptions every day of our lives.
While many were raised within the culture and they followed many of the traditions, (as they knew them) others learned and became participants when they decided to become 'more Indian' then they were before. They read, attended culture classes, and began to practice the traditions to become more cultural.
Being Indian is a beautiful thing. To some, the traditions are somewhat of a religion practiced by Indians. For others, it is a way of life and the word religion does not enter into it. For those that understand it fully, the traditions of Native Americans is also their government with Elders making the decisions based on tradition and cultural beliefs.
This can all be very confusing though since some, such as Allard Teeple, will have you believe you can't be a member of the Sault Tribe and a U.S. citizen. He believes that to follow and respect the U.S. Constitution takes away our right to vote in the Sault Tribe elections, that we should have no say in the way our tribe is run. I am not 100% Indian. How many Sault Tribe members who have similar beliefs to Mr. Teeple are full blooded Indians and how many of the full bloods have assimilated? How many full bloods are in the Sault Tribe?
At the same time, Teeple wants me to stop bashing Bouschor. Bouschor is not a traditional person. Even if he follows some of the traditions he is assimilated in every form. Since when are casinos traditional? Since when is conspiring with Greeks to whisk away a large portion of our assets, from the tribal members, to places unknown, traditional? Since when is it traditional to threaten your own people that you will destroy them?
If you want to know what non-assimilation means watch the National Geographic channel for a view of what is true non-assimilation. There are tribes still living with zero modern conveniences including medical care, clothing. junk food, etc...who still share with each other what they have.
Modern tribes, such as those in Native America, have their own constitutions, bylaws, judicial systems and police force. This is assimilation. Wearing a seat belt is assimilation. Anytime we follow laws written by non-Indians we are assimilating/conforming. Everytime we turn on the TV to watch the news or a favorite show or attend a hockey game we are conforming since none of the above was ever a part of Indian traditions.
As a tribe who sued the U.S. government for land claims, we utilized the court system of the U.S. government for our benefit and we did that as U.S. citizens. We did it because the U.S. government violated treaties and took our land. Tribes won that battle and then built schools and medical facilities to help our people.
But we also built CASINOS and in doing so, worked with non-Indians to build these games of chance to rip off people in order to bring more revenue to the tribe. Is this tradition? Is that what being an Indian is all about? To build a casino required the assistance of those who were in the business of taking from others to achieve maximum personal gain. This is what Bouschor and other tribal leaders have done and this is assimilation.
There is no difference between one tribal leader and another when it comes to assimilation. It is too late and we have assimilated/conformed into the culture of the U. S. Those that wish to can still practice the traditional ways. They do not need to conform unless they step outside their front door because even on tribal lands, there is assimilation. We still have to wear a seatbelt, we still can't drink and drive or do drugs without being arrested. If you accept all of these laws then you have assimilated because you accepted the laws of the non-natives and adopted them as your own.
There is one more thing I would like to mention to Mr. Teeple. I often hear of all I have gained by being a Payment supporter. First of all, everything I had was lost because of Bouschor and his team of beasts. I gained nothing by supporting Payment. Has my life improved because Payment is chairman of the Sault Tribe? No. I am my own person and a survivor and I don't expect anyone to save me except myself.
None of us should expect anyone else to keep us afloat even though there are times when we all need a lift or a helping hand. That is all I ever expected from being a Sault Tribe member. There will never be a job for me in the Sault Tribe because of my strong opinons and if the history books are correct, then that is 'traditional' according to the white man. That is assimilation because we have accepted non-Indian politics as a weapon against a difference in opinion by using employment or lack of, as a means to destroy another.
My ancestors were not able to enjoy their share of what was taken away so I am humbled by the fact that their loss was my gain in the form of health care or a helping hand when things seem bleak. But, I have never taken without giving back in some way. That helping hand may not be returned to the person that gave it but it will be given to another that needs it. That is what being Indian means to me.
What does it mean not to assimilate? Allard Teeple says if we vote in the United States election that we have become assimilated and do not deserve the right to be a Sault Tribe member. He is not alone in his beliefs because he is not the first person I have heard that from.

Calling All Angels
Today is the day we find out who the voters selected to advance to the general election. It will be a nerve racking day not only for the candidates but for the members who fear their selection won't have the necessary votes to make it through the primaries.
The last four years were as tumultuous as the previous eighteen, if not more so. Bouschor did not give up his seat in 2004 willingly and has been fighting to regain control by whatever means necessary and minus any ethics or moral standards.
With me always is my token of faith in the form of a St. Michael medallion who has protected my mind from evil throughout my lifetime.
In the Apocalypse (chapter xii) the most dramatic reference to St. Michael. Here John recounts the great battle in Heaven, when the wicked angels under Lucifer revolt against God, and how Michael, leading the faithful angels, defeats the hosts of evil and drives them out.
Today I pray he is watching over the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Proof is in the Admission of Guilt
This is what the Bouschor Sault Tribe Times has to say. Bouschor admits he has successfully brought the Sault Tribe to it's knees.....and that creep wants to lead???!!
If Tribal Members are to believe what Aaron Payment and Todd Gravelle write about Sault Tribe Times. Then it means this little website did what huge conglomerations have been trying to do for years, bring the great Sault Tribe to it's very knees.
If a small website can rattle the chairman and his sidekick on Board to point that they publicly attack the website, What kind electedleaders are they? Greektown Casino financing questioned

Truth and Honesty......Past Due
Between all the secrets and lies tribal members have been subjected to over the years, right up to the current day, we don't know what to believe. Any and all financial disasters belong to the Greektown management board as well as all 13 people that have sat in front of the members and failed to make the right decisions or who did not speak up on behalf of the members.
The only person that deserves any notable credit is Bob Lapoint who tried his darndest. It was his connection that brought the biggest offer initially a year ago and even though it was ignored, no one else put forth as much effort as he did to save this tribe. For him, it wasn't about saving Greektown, it was about saving the tribe from financial doom.
The others not only failed to listen, they refused to listen partly in cooperation with those that spend their days insulting, slandering and lying about anyone that has made the slightest effort to keep our tribe afloat in "Bouschor's absence".
That is what many thought and still think....that Bouschor was only temporarily displaced so they fought the 4 year battle to destroy financially and ruin the reputation of anyone that had any sort of plan to bring truth and honesty to the tribal members. Beat us down, destroy anyone that gets in the way and keep us hanging by a thread so Bouschor can step out of his pile of millions that belong to the Sault tribe and its members and come back to save us.
BS to that! All one has to do is look at what other tribes have accomplished and provided for their members with a whole lot less federal dollars to work with. Greed, corruption, politics and directors unqualified to do the job is what has gotten us where we are today. If the leader is corrupt those with the potential to be corrupted themselves will follow in order to grasp whatever leftovers may come their way.
Just recently I was told of an act of corruption which was a payoff for a specific vote regarding Greektown. Is it true? I don't know. But,....one of those who supposedly was offered this deal is now claiming someone is performing quite a service for them in a building project...for free. Now how many builders does anyone know during these hard times that would offer up their labor (and labor of others) and costs for free...for what reason? Another has a brand new vehicle within the last few weeks when the continuance of that persons paycheck is in question. Should we be suspicious? I am because of their record of leaning to the side of corruption and away from the members.
Remember all Bouschor's 'failures', (and I say that with a note of skepticism)? If he could not keep 30 plus small business's up and running, why would anyone think he knew what he was doing with Greektown? Greektown was down the tubes for the members of the Sault tribe from the very start and it was Bouschor that contrived that deal.
Where did all the profits go? Business fails for several reasons,....no feasibility studies prior to launch, no long term business plan, unqualified and improper management, economic slowdown, Skimming off the top and Embezzlement. This didn't happen to just Greektown but more than 30 of Bouschor's deals failed!
On top of everything else, now we are dealing with a typical 'Bouschor election'. This time it is see thru envelopes, registered voters being mysteriously unregistered, hundreds not receiving ballots, and complaints of all of the above going unanswered until it is too late.
We still have to get those ballots through the post office. I have a question for Dennis McKelvie. It has been reported that you seemed to have some business located in the midst of the mailroom at the postoffice. Does being a former postal worker still allow you access to those areas not normally open to the public? Just a general question....I like to follow up on these things. Not a good place to locate yourself at this time, if true. Looks suspicious and we have had more than our share of suspicious activities. If you don't want to be subjected to suspicion than why place yourself in such positions, if true?
What would be interesting is with so many not receiving a ballot and many others planning not to vote because of their disgust with this tribe, maybe we won't even reach the required percentage of processed ballots and the election won't be validated. All that trickery, expense and planning....for nothing.

Real Timesaver....See Thru Envelopes
Apparently the Election Chairman is doing his part to increase productivity by providing the election committee with a real timesaver......see thru envelopes. They won't even have to open the envelope to determine whose circle is filled in.
Unfortunately, not all members with the right to vote will have the opportunity to see it for themselves since there are several hundred who didn't get a ballot for a whole slew of reasons.
What do you suppose happened to those missing ballots? Gee, if someone really wanted their candidate to win and they were able to access all those missing ballots all they would need to do is to fill in the circle and mail them.....who would be the wiser?
If you didn't get a ballot and should have, email me at weave977@yahoo.com. The Secretary of Interior will need your name and address so please include that information.

Acts of Desperation
With potential charges piling up around Fred Paquin and being faced with the prospect of spending years behind bars seemed to have sent him to seek refuge under the protection of a health care provider.
Apparently Paquin has been aware that an investigation was forthcoming which may have led to his desperate acts to take out his fears on others. Attempts to retaliate against the chairman and others failed to save him from himself. I suspect that what has been discovered of late is only the tip of the iceberg and Paquin's troubles with charges of * assault on a woman were small compared to what has been uncovered recently.
Some feel that Paquin is in self protect mode and will gladly point the finger to expose anyone that may have participated in the corruption of our tribe. If we could be a fly on Paquin's wall, would we hear promises, deal making, or maybe even threats? I don't think he will go down without taking others with him so the next several months could be very interesting.
Ever since Paquin was arrested for assault, reports have been coming in, not just from tribal members but also from others who are tired of being intimidated by Paquin and are now unafraid to come forward.
Since I first ran for a board seat in 2004, I received numerous (mostly anonymous) calls and emails about corruption, illegally obtained tribal property, 'employees' paid for non-existent jobs including several things that may currently be under investigation.
While a handful accuse me of being a liar, most know that I stand for honesty and justice or they would not feel comfortable coming to me. Those that make the slanderous comments are obviously trying to discredit me for obvious reasons but if you don't give up, justice will prevail.
Theft, threats, intimidation, violations of the rights of the members and the constitution, election manipulation and other injustices are the means by which members have been held hostage for too long.
I doubt very much if we will see the return of Paquin to either his board seat or his position of Chief of Police and with him out of the picture, things can only get better. Some are concerned that all of this publicity will make the tribe look bad....seems we have looked bad for too many years. Taking a chunk out of corruption will do nothing except help our image.
Remember who tried to protect Paquin.....Abramson, Causley, Eitrem, McKelvie, all currently trying to get re-elected. Hoffman, Massaway and Petoskey are others that stood behind Paquin. No one will ever convince me that Abramson and McKelvie who worked with Paquin the longest, did not know what they guy was all about while Causley and Eitrem appeared to cooperate fully with Abramson and McKelvie. But the closest of all to Paquin through the years......none other than Bernard Bouschor.

Bouschor’s Actions Suspect in North Country Financial Case
More Bouschor history.....
Charles Lanctot, an individual share holder of North Country Financial Corporation (NCFC), filed a class action lawsuit in the United States District Court against Sherry Littlejohn, Ronald Ford and NCFC on June 13, 2003. The plaintiff and others lost a considerable amount of their investment as a result of the deceitful acts of NCFC leadership. As a member of the Board of Directors of NCFC, Bernard Bouschor may be forced to testify before a jury about his interactions with NCFC on behalf of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
Alegations against NCFC include: disseminating/approving false statements of material facts; engaging in acts of fraud and deceit in their purchases of NCFC publicly traded securities; maintaining artificially high market prices of NCFC securities; and engaging in a continuous course of conduct to conceal adverse material information about the business, operations and future prospects of NCFC.
The Tribe holds hundreds of thousands of shares of NCFC stock. Bouschor received at least 10,000 shares for being on the NCFC Board of Directors. It is unclear whether he has pocketed these shares or if they have been appropriately added to the Tribe’s holdings. Despite a cease and desist order placed on NCFC earlier this year, the Sault Tribe Board of Directors approved using the Big Bear Arena as collateral for a loan in what amounts to a bail out for the financial corporation.
Bouschor’s actions as a representative of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians on the NCFC Board of Directors are subject not only to the scrutiny of federal justice system, but are also subject to the tribal justice system. The citizenry of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians have entrusted Bouschor, through the tribal Board of Directors, to act on their behalf regarding tribal resources. As such, Bouschor may be subject to a breach of trust case within a tribal court setting. Given the inherent bias of the tribal justice system in Bouschor’s favor, however, it is doubtful that such a case could move forward unbiased. Short of external review by the Bureau of Indian Affairs or the federal justice system, the case would be suspect from the word go.

Describe Bouschorism
Bouschorists.....is this what you want for our people?
As reported in 2001......
DETROIT -- The Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians has built a $250-million-a-year financial empire out of casino profits, but critics claim the money is being squandered by tribal leaders and not making it to the members who need it most.
The tribe's 29,000 members have no control over how the money is spent, are unable to hold their leaders accountable and see little in tribe-funded services, the Detroit News reported. Unlike other casino-rich tribes, the Sault Chippewa has no profit-sharing plan for members, and many of its services are federally subsidized.
Revenues from Detroit's Greektown Casino and five other Sault Chippewa casinos in the Upper Peninsula are controlled by a 13-member board, led by Chairman Bernard Bouschor. The powers granted the 52-year-old Bouschor as the head of a tribal government far exceed that of most elected officials. With no independent court, police, auditors or justice department within the tribe to answer to, he has amassed incredible economic and political clout.
Civil rights and legal recourses taken for granted by many Americans are often nonexistent on reservations, where tribal leaders control everything.Bouschor makes $100,000 a year as tribal chairman and CEO. He gets another $167,000 as the tribe's chief operating officer for casino operations.
**We found out later that he hid what he actually made....almost a million a year.
The chairman's benefits are in sharp contrast with those of the people he serves. For most tribal members, the personal benefits from the tribe's newfound wealth have been few. Fifteen years after the tribe opened its first casino, the majority of its members still qualify for some kind of federal assistance. There is no profit-sharing plan for distributing casino revenues to members, unlike the Saginaw Chippewas in Mount Pleasant whose adult members get $52,000 a year from their tribe.
"The people living on the reservation have nothing," said Verna Lawrence, a former board member ousted in 1977. "The government owns the land that their houses sit on. If you don't own the land, you don't own anything. The tribal leaders like to keep the Indian people poor or they wouldn't get federal funds."Sault leaders say they decided more than a decade ago to use casino revenues to build a diversified economy and pay for social services, not create a welfare state.
"Bouschor said the tribe's financial books are open to any tribal members who visited tribal offices."When individuals ask for information we provide as best we can," Bouschor said. "Obviously, it may not suit what they think is appropriate or enough.
"The tribe now employs close to 7,000 people, nearly 2,900 of them in the Upper Peninsula. It has built five health clinics, a two-hockey-rink recreation center, a state-of-art elementary school and several housing developments. The tribe also helps fund funerals, provides college scholarships and gives elders a $100-a-month stipend.
But by the tribe's own accounting, much of the money for the services comes from federal and state funds, not business or casino profits. After paying operating costs and debts for its businesses, only $30 million of the tribe's revenues actually go to run the government and provide services for members. By contrast, the tribe got $75 million from federal programs, state funding, land trust payments and other outside sources, Hatch confirmed.

Sault Tribe Loss.......
By RJanetos
Sault Tribe Loss failed to mention who was behind the movement to get Steve Morello out of Sault Ste. Marie. He was working to uncover tribal corruption and expose those involved. Bouschor, Paquin, Abramson and a host of administrative employees didn't want that to happen, for obvious reasons.
Mr. Morello was an employee of a legal firm contracted to work for the tribe. These rogue Board members did everything in their power to keep him from the truth. When it appeared that he was going to expose them, they fired the law firm and subsequently, Mr. Morello. This cost the tribe a great deal of money.
The campaign that was launched to discredit Mr. Morello was orchestrated and implemented by the followers of Benard Booschor. As a result, the tribe will never realize the value of this persons background, abilities, sense of fairness and valuable connection to Washington.
This is typical of the destruction caused by the corrupt.Had Mr. Morello been successful, we probably wouldn't be considering Booschor, Paquin, Abramson or any of the cohorts for this upcoming election.
Voters must decide to once and for all. Vote for CORRUPTION OR VOTE FOR A REAL FUTURE

More Trouble for Paquin
Paquin suspended
By SCOTT BRAND
Story created May 09, 2008 - 10:59:12 EDT.
SAULT STE. MARIE - Tribal Police Chief Fred Paquin has again been suspended from his duties under the shadow of a joint investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Criminal Investigative Unit, according to a Wednesday press release from Tribal Chairman Aaron Payment.
The press release indicated the decision to suspend was made independently by the Tribal CFO/ Assistant Executive Director for Internal Services - Victor Mattson Jr.“I am advised by the Tribal CFO that we are cooperating completely with federal officials,” said Payment in issuing the statement. “It is important to make clear that the Sault Tribe takes compliance with federal laws very seriously and will work to bring an efficient resolution to the current matter. It is also important for me to recognize that our Law Enforcement Division is well respected by the local community and that the actions of one individual certainly does not reflect our commitment to uphold the law. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, so please be patient and not jump to judge someone's innocence or guilt. That is up to the courts to decide.
”Bob Marchand has taken over Paquin's duties at the helm of the Sault Tribal Police Department.Paquin had been suspended last August after an assault complaint was filed. In February, Paquin entered into a plea bargain arrangement with the Michigan State Attorney General's Office which would have seen the dismissal of the misdemeanor charge if he met with a number of court-imposed conditions - including a provision prohibiting any criminal activity. With that matter seemingly behind him, Paquin was reinstated to the Tribal Police Chief position in March.
The final outcome of the federal investigation threatens to not only bring additional charges against Paquin, but could trigger the State Attorney General to re-issue the misdemeanor assault charge. The Federal Bureau of Investigations Office in Marquette was aware of an ongoing investigation on Wednesday, but an agent declined to provide any details in this matter. No arrests have been made to date related to the Federal inquiry.Paquin, who also serves on the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians Board of Directors, has kept his elected office since allegations first arose in August of 2007. He is currently up for re-election, facing four challengers in Unit III.

Waterfall
There comes a time when we must depart from the stark reality of daily life to enjoy the wonders of the minds of children. My 10 year old granddaughter Brianna's birthday is just a day apart from mine and we often draw on our similarities. She, like me is outspoken. I have also discovered that she has a love for writing, as I do.
"Waterfall" is only one of her short stories she has authored and I would like to share a part of it with you.
Waterfall....by Brianna Maclean
One day while in the Amazon, I heard a clashing of water. I followed the sound as if I were a cat following a mouse.
I walked long enough to see the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It was a rushing waterfall. The steam was flowing up in the air and around my feet. The smell of fresh moist air made me sweat.
I went up to the waterfall and touched the wet rock and ran my hands up and down the slimy, smooth surface. I could taste the misty air go into my lungs as I breathed.
I pulled out my camera and took a few pictures and then wrapped a piece of cloth around the tree to mark it. I did that because I knew I would be back in a few weeks.
To be continued......

Where Did the Money Go???
I think we all want answers to the same questions. Other experts in the field of casino operations have brought up the same points as you have. There is no way that our Greektown casino is reporting all the profits to the tribe, according to these experts. The money is going somewhere but 'where' is the question.
Now...think about it. Who is on the Greektown management board and think about the actions that have taken place over the last several months? Think about who the Greektown management board (that includes Cathy Abramson, Lana Causley, DJ Hoffman, Joe Eitrem, etc..) wanted as CEO of Greektown as well as who they didn't want. Also, point of interest, who have the above tried to protect recently and where is Fred Paquin now?
Why is Bouschor so desperate to get back on the board which will most likely place him on the Greektown Management Board if he is successful? Who was behind Gatzaros and made so many dirty deals? Who had so many business failures?....Bouschor. Were they really failures?
Now think about who has fought for Bouschor's return and the end of the lawsuit against him....well Hallelujah!!!....the above mentioned directors.
Now anyone with more than 5 brain cells can piece this together. Get Payment out, get Bouschor back in even if they have to corrupt the election, overturn the vote of the members, violate the constitution....millions at stake. A little common sense applied and the answers are all there in front of us.

As I have been saying. This deal is the worst deal in history. Open the attached file and you can see the revenues (reported by the State of Michigan Gaming Control Board) as to why we are getting ripped off and why everyone needs to know what is going on.
Even if they assumed 265 million in debt, just look at what the casino brings in MONTHLY and then tell me that 265million is a lot compared to what kind of revenue Greektown is making. We are selling 40% of a company that makes OVER 1 BILLION dollars per year. That is BILLION with a “B”. Guys, somebody is getting rich and somebody is getting ripped off and guess what, it is our tribe and we are all a part of it. We are not even getting 1.00 per share………
If we have not yet heard about everything else that was associated with the deal, then so be it. Who's fault is that? Our council works for the people of the tribe and we should all be aware of this deal BEFORE it even happened. Our council should be communicating this type of thing to its membership, that is their job after all.
There better be a hell of a lot more than they assumed 265 million in debt because they inherited BILLIONS in assets.
Where has all of this money from Greektown gone since its inception? I don't see it.. Follow the money and you will find out who is pushing for this sale and why they are pushing for it.
What other bids are on the table? Why were the members of the tribe kept from knowing this information? Why are all the aspects of this deal being kept secret?
Something stinks here.

Below is the link to the Michigan control boards here I got this information.

Paquin in Trouble....Again!!!!
Chief of Police Fred Paquin Suspended
Written by Todd Gravelle
Sault Ste. Marie, MI-- Today (May 2, 2008) it was disclosed that the Tribe's Chief of the Police, Fred Paquin has been suspended again.
Previously, I have disclosed in unit reports that he should have been investigated for allegations surrounding sexual harassment. He should have also been terminated for off-duty misconduct by beating a tribal woman.
The board (Cathy Abramson, Joe Eitrem and others) ignored the Chairman and myself in our attempts to terminate Paquin's employment. They sold out the victim and the Tribe due to board politics.
Today we learned that he has been suspended again by the CFO (Victor Matson). The FBI and BIA are conducting a massive internal investigation surrounding allegations of misappropriation of tribal funds. This is outrageous if these allegations turn out to be true.
I have been arguing all along that we need to end this corruption. The only way we can do it is by adopting a new Constitution. Please help me and cast your vote for me to end corruption once and for all.

Gravelle sues Bouschor
Sault Ste. Marie, MI-- Today (May 7, 2008), I filed a lawsuit against Bill Bouschor in the 50th Circuit Court for Chippewa County. This lawsuit is for defamation and libel. Bosuchor made libelous statements against me and sent-out thousands of so-called newsletters to tribal voters. His statements are false.
I am not a convicted drug user. I will hold him and any other persons working with him accountable for these libelous statements.I will not negotiate with tribal terroristsWe will use the courts to find-out who is working with him as well as who is paying for his smear campaign. I will not be intimidated in my quest to root-out all corruption in our Tribe and their smear campaign against me will not stop me from getting to the truth.

Bouschorism Strategy
By RJanetos
After reading the campaign literature from Booshor, Abramson, McCoy, Eitrem, Causley, McKelvie and Fred Paquin you get a sense of what the Sault Tribe is up against.Booschor says that it is time to get down to business. He goes on to say that the tribe is in trouble. He is right, about that. What he doesn't own up to ..is that his lack of leadership, underhanded dealings, mismanagement and abuse of power created the desperate situation that the tribe is in, financially. Giving away 2.6 million to his political allies, says it all.
Cathy (McCoy) Abramson's literature suggests that she is hard at work...but, only emphasizes her associations and "social butterfly" behavior.Nowhere does it tell the true story of her blind loyalty to Booschor and her attempt to jeopardize the tribe's court proceeding against him. Nowhere does it say how she started a conspiracy to stop Chairman Payment from reforming the tribe's government. Nowhere does it say how successful she has been stopping the new constitution from becoming the law of the land. Let's give credit where credit is due.
Joe (McCoy) is the lone candidate to challenge Chairman Aaron Payment. Don't you find that interesting in itself? Did I mention that he is a McCoy? Director BJ Hoffman....is a nephew of Cathy (McCoy) Abramson. Let's see...that would be three McCoy's and a Booschor.
All of these illustrious politicians are also going out on a limb to protect a woman beater cop that has been suspended from the Greektown Management Board, twice suspended as police chief and now appears to be under investigation, again. Yes......FRED PAQUIN.....so let's see..that would be a total of five cohorts, loyal to each other....on the Board and in the chair. All they need is two more and they control the future of the tribe. Who else falls into the category so famously known as the rogue Board?
Dennis McKelvie and Joe Eitrem have consistently aided these BOOschorites during their entire service as board members. If you can't see the writing on the wall..........then, you will probably vote these characters into office.
There are several people that have thrown their name into the race...only to dilute the vote....this is by design. Most are Booschorites. You have received mail ( campaign smut) from one or more of these individuals.....trying to convince you not to vote for the only director that has consistently stood up for you and the future of the tribe...and that is
Director Todd Gravelle.
THE CORE FAMILIES DO NOT BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE ANY RIGHT TO THE RESOURCES OF THE SAULT TRIBE. THEY WILL FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL TO RECOVER WHAT THEY FEEL IS THEIR ENTITLEMENT.
Support the Chairman....
Get involved with phone calls and email sharing your ideas with family and friends.....
Understand that there is an organized effort to take this tribe's resources away from you.

The Worst and Best....Still to Come
May 3rd, 2008
The worst of it.....because of mismanagement, the gaming commission could actually force the tribe to sell Greektown. Problem is, the Greektown management board lied to the gaming commission about offers received...makes them in deep do-do.
Someone suggested the board should hire a new qualified board to run Greektown but if the Sault Tribe board is not capable of running it, have let it sink this far, then they are not capable of choosing qualified individuals to run it either.
Some of our directors have had problems that have embarrassed the tribe with drunk driving and assault charges. Alcoholism is a problem among a large percentage of Indians and driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is always the wrong thing to do just as assault is against another human regardless of age, gender or stature.
The drug 'charges', were highly questionable to some because of the hostility of Police Chief Paquin against Todd Gravelle. Gravelle had been a fighter against corruption in this tribe even before his election in 2004 to director of the tribe. The charges were not substantiated and therefore dismissed but drug use is a crime against one's own body and mind. Gravelle with his strong legal background in Indian law, is still the best this tribe has to offer. His efforts have always been for the people and the best interests of the tribe.
One of our candidates for chairman also has had a drunk driving as I am told, and Joe McCoy is frequently seen about town imbibing in the beverages containing alcohol. Recently, while in Greektown he was observed as being "intoxicated and raising hell " but as long as he stays away from the drivers seat of a car, his drinking is his business. However, his association with former chairman Bouschor wraps a red flag around him. His marine business, located along the beautiful shoreline of the St. Mary's river, is the biggest eyesore and embarrassment the Sault area has seen. Thumbs down to Joe McCoy for chairman.
The worst crimes are the crimes committed against the people of this tribe. The lies, corruption, failure of almost all business ventures, and mismanagment that has been part of our business plan for the last 20 years as well as the epidemic proportion of misappropriation of funds, including by our own elected leaders, is far more offensive to me because of the number of people that have been hurt.....those failures and losses can never be recovered.
The federal auditors will be walking into the administration of the Sault Tribe on Wednesday.
Fred Paquin's office was reportedly raided, he was suspended and is being investigated for misappropriation of funds. Someone blew the whistle on his activities and I am told he is now on the run....maybe just a short vacation to wonder why he didn't get away with one more crime against the people.
By the way how do disbursement vouchers get passed for payment, considering the large dollar amounts that were approved for the misappropriations, without question by the lead accountant? This would be Vic Mattson Jr. and why did it take someone other than him to blow the whistle on the police chief?
Sooner or later the feds were going to hear what has been going on in this tribe. Sooner or later they are going to walk in and take over our government because we allowed corruption and greed to take over and did not stand up for our rights or closed our eyes to the truth.
The best thing that could happen is a special election conducted by the Secretary of Interior and monitored by the BIA and FBI. Only then can we be sure that those truly elected by the people sit in the chairs of the board of directors and work for the best interest of the tribe and it's people.
This upcoming election is going to mean nothing. Those voted in or left still sitting may not be there for long. If you think we made the news before, you haven't seen anything yet.

Lights on....Paquin Suspended
Just heard....because Paquin is under investigation by the FBI, he has been suspended by Vic Mattson Jr. Mattson may be trying to shine the good guy light on himself by reacting to the investigation of his friend or is it just a ploy to point the finger in the other direction....kind of a 'don't look at me, look at him',
Will we soon see two decades of trouble and corruption devouring itself? Could this be the domino effect back in motion? Will self-preservation of the corrupt lead the way to the Light at the end of the tunnel?
I think so.

Where is the Light?
By RJanetos
Where is the light at the end of the tunnel ?Adopting the new constitution
Reelect Payment and Gravelle.Rid the tribe of those rogue board members...Abramson, Causley, Paquin, McKelvie and EitremDon't repeat the mistake by adding a McCoy or Booschor to the board.
There are a few new faces that will bring a renewed hope to this tribe. Is it reasonable to think that Cathy Abramson is capable and committed to bringing the best government to its citizens? After all, she has been in office for twelve years.Has she offered the leadership of someone with that much time in office ? Has she watched over the tribe's resources with any expertise ? Did she safeguard the Elder's legacy ? The answer is NO !
She supported an arrogant Bernard Booschor who is responsible for squandering millions of dollars in secret deal and mismanagement. Cathy Abramson supported Benard Booschor's conspiracy to deplete the tribal bank account by 2.6 million dollars and then lobbied the board of directors to dismiss charges against those that took the money.
She supported the Booschor deal with the greeks and the taking of the Elder's Land Claims Settlement money.I am sure that the Elders feel ashamed to have voted for her in the past. She supports Booschor and Causley's attempt to keep the new constitution from becoming law.She is desperate for four more years........but, doesn't deserve it..She has only served as a coconspirator.
Is it reasonable to believe that Dennis McKelvie has represented Unit 1 citizens and the tribe as a whole ?He initiated the purge of Mac Band decedents. Has Denniy watched over and safeguarded the tribe's resources with any expertise ? Has he demonstrated any leadership ?Has he offered any hopeful messages of government reform ? The answer is NO ! Denny has used his time in office to deny membership. He has used his time in office to conspire against the needed government reform. It is most likely that he was the source of leaks to the Sault Tribe Trash, bringing shame to to this once proud tribal family.
Is it reasonable to think that Fred Paquin has offered hope, through solutions, and demonstrated leadership as a board member ?Has he fullfilled his promise to represent the membership ? Are you proud of the way he turned his back while Booschor gave millions away? Are you proud of his service ..? The answer is NO ! He brought shame to the tribe, in a very public way with his immoral behavior. He failed as an appointed CEO of the Greektown management board. He didn't last a few weeks before being stripped of his gaming license and the position. He has been double dipping despite the ovewhelming conflict with his constituents. He is a conspirator.
Is it reasonable to think that Lana Causley is trustworthy ? Has she shown any leadership as a board director? Did she lie when filling out grant request with the federal government on behalf of the Mac Band....when she stated that she wasn't a member of any tribe? The answer is NO !Lana is a coconspirator that has duped her constituents and the entire membership into thinking that she is watching over the tribe's business. Her main purpose has been to stop the government reform. She will do whatever it takes to see that this new constitution doesn't see the light of day.
